Profitability Analysis of Selected Steam Methane Reforming Methods for Hydrogen Production

چکیده
One of the matured methods for producing hydrogen in bulk is steam methane reforming (SMR). The two commercial aspects from SMR are with shift reactor (SR) and dry (DRM). Although SR produces high yield, it emits a large quantity carbon dioxide (CO2). On contrary, DRM produce low yield but favorably emit CO2. However, not obvious which these more favourable economically. Consequently, using UNISIM Software Package, this study investigates three namely SR, combination purpose determining most route hydrogen. This was done on basis feedstock rate 100 kmol/hr reacted 250 8000 hrs annually CO2 CO emissions (COx) plant net profit percentage as performance indices. profitability analysis shows that SMR/SR process profitable 41.3%. Moreover, has highest interestingly lowest COx emission rate. It therefore concluded route, technically economically, production feedstock.

Stepwise methane steam reforming: a route to CO-free hydrogen
A method for the production of clean hydrogen is demonstrated. The process consists of two steps involving the decomposition of methane to CO-free hydrogen and surface carbon in the first step followed by steam gasification of this surface carbon in the second step. This process can be operated in cycles and could be an excellent hydrogen source for fuel cells and other devices or processes req...

Abnormal growth of population and development enormously increases energy demand. In present scenario utilization of fossils fuels to meet this demand is not enough and also leads to pollution, global warming, climate change as well as natural disaster. Therefore, hydrogen as energy carrier is a major option on these prospects as it is non-polluting and renewable. The renewable hydrogen energy ...
متن کاملHydrogen production by sorption-enhanced steam reforming of glycerol.
Catalytic steam reforming of glycerol for H(2) production has been evaluated experimentally in a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. The experiments were carried out under atmospheric pressure within a temperature range of 400-700 degrees C. A commercial Ni-based catalyst and a dolomite sorbent were used for the steam reforming reactions and in situ CO(2) removal. The product gases were measured...
